This Is My Face is a not for profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about issues relating to women and aging. We will work to provide funding for re-constructive surgery and educational opportunities to women in need both in the U.S. and abroad.

The goal of This Is My Face is to provide a broader discussion about women as they grow older. We hope to free women from the cultural bind of a belief system that older women are primarily valued for their ‘youthful’ appearance. In doing so the resources of both time and money can be directed to female populations both here and abroad that are in crisis, and away from the corporate mandate that we spend inordinate amounts of time and money to conform to an ideal of aging that for many women is not possible or meaningful.

We believe the incredible power that comes with the second half of a woman’s life is better spent in service to the world rather than increasing the bottom line of companies who seem to believe that wrinkles are an illness and that aging is a condition to be ‘cured’. We believe that every day we receive to grow older, is better filled with gratitude at the time we have to make positive impacts on the many challenges the world faces, than scrutinizing ourselves for flaws that need repair.

We believe that every woman has a right to choose her own path and are not here to disapprove of any decision a woman makes in honoring herself and her life. We do hope that by having a deeper, more meaningful discussion about the gifts that come with getting older, that many women will make choices that are in line with their own authenticity and not those that that are dictated by a culture that continues to be fixated on a specific body image.

Each of us has our own story to tell about the new relationship we have with ourselves as we grow older. Many of us are blessed in this country with time and resources that others may not have and we are encouraging the sharing of those stories and the giving of time, talents and resources to heal ourselves and each other. We believe that until we re-define the look and role of older women in American society we will not fully realize all of the resources that are available to solve many of today’s problems.

We (you?) are who the world has been waiting for….please join us as we create the new face of the older woman in America. A woman whose beautiful actions illuminate her face, a woman who through thoughtful self-care is healthy and happy in her own skin, a woman who is awakened to the need in the world and is meeting that challenge in whatever way she is able in her community, her country and the world. A woman who is beautiful because of what she is doing.

If you are being gifted with age we welcome your involvement with This Is My Face.

We believe in creating an alternative vision for women as they age – one that sees the beauty in a face that has been gifted with time. We believe that by aligning our actions and resources with our values we can make significant contributions to some of the most challenging issues facing women around the world. When we make a choice to forgo an elective surgical procedure and instead offer that money to a woman who needs reconstructive surgery we have the ability to forge relationships that will have ripple effects on a global scale. We believe that by healing women halfway around the world to enable them to care for their families and become community leaders we not only enrich our own life experience but play a part in the world peace process.

We encourage women to make whatever decisions they need to in their lives as they grow older and meet their responsibilities to themselves, their families and their communities. We welcome your involvement in This Is My Face in whatever way is meaningful to you.
